Heated Screen

Hello again , bought another tdi gal 54 plate auto (getting lazy ) but the heated screen dont seem to work ,

Switch lights up as should both by pressing and by heater panel engine revs drop slightly and alternator makes a sound when light is on but it doesn't clear . Have had a read in topics but not come across this ,

Also drivers mirror nothing works is this on a separate fuse to passengers .

Wouldn't think I'd had a galaxy for five years other one must b a good en . Thank you

mirror i would say the wires in the gaitors is the first place to look,

has the windscreen been replaced?if so maybe the wires havnt been reattached

or a non heated screen may of been fitted?

Defo heated screen .has been replaced so last owner said . If wires aren't connected why does it drop revs etc . Thanks for reply

Lift the small panels up in the corners on top of dash, that's where the connectors are, with a meter check for voltage on each side and then for continuity through heating elements in glass.

Are you pressing the front or the rear window heated switch?

 

Mirror problems will be gaitor related.

 

Revs may be dropping as the mirror heaters and heated washers will be activated.

Hello . Pressing front windscreen makes revs drop but screen doesn't demist , got tomorrow off so should get time to look ,

Just thought weird that revs drop and nothing works

As seatkid points out pushing button activates heaters in wing mirrors and washer jets, as well as screen. You could always have an accident with screen!!!!!

Haha might crack over winter anyway kettle out . I thought mirrors only came on with rear screen

My boys did mine in for me, left them for ten mins and they were mucking about and one of them kicked the other in the head, his head hit screen and cracked it! I went nuts but they did me a favour as it hadn't worked for years, cost me

whats the best way to "accidentally" damage it so it needs changing ?

It's a bugger my older galaxy screen works perfect , but new one won't go really miss it
